The AR Rahman concert held in Chennai on Sunday witnessed chaos and disappointment among fans, primarily due to poor management. Attendees complained about the low volume, making the music barely audible to those situated away from the stage. Many concertgoers shared harrowing experiences of suffering panic attacks and anxiety due to overcrowding, vowing never to attend an AR Rahman concert again despite their deep fandom. Reports also surfaced of ticket holders being denied entry, leading some to express their frustration by tearing up their tickets.
A film trade analyst shared a video of a disillusioned #ARRahman fan tearing up their #MarakkumaNenjam concert tickets, labeling the event as unforgettable but in the worst way possible. Many took to social media to discourage fellow AR Rahman fans from attending the event if they were en route.
One concertgoer lamented spending 15,000 rupees for a subpar view and recounted a near-death experience in the stampede. The venue was overcrowded, with people overflowing from all corners, and chairs were notably absent. Audio problems plagued the event, leaving attendees disgruntled. Some attendees even referred to the concert as a “well-orchestrated shitshow” and vowed never to attend another AR Rahman concert. Even those with Gold tickets, considered some of the best seats, had a nightmarish experience.
AR Rahman, the renowned Oscar-winning music composer known for his contributions to films like the Ponniyin Selvan series, Enthiran, Sivaji: The Boss, Rangeela, Bombay, Taal, Rockstar, and Slumdog Millionaire, has yet to comment on the situation.
As the hashtag #ARRConcert trends across social media platforms, it’s evident that the concert’s mismanagement has left a lasting impact on AR Rahman’s devoted fanbase, sparking widespread disappointment and frustration.
