Planet Twice the Size of Earth Has been Discovered

In a remarkable discovery, scientists have identified a rare exoplanet named TOI-733b, which stands out due to its size and ocean-covered surface. This planet, approximately twice the size of Earth, adds to the growing list of over 5,000 exoplanets discovered since the 1990s.

TOI-733b was detected using NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) and is located at a distance of 245 light-years from Earth. It orbits a star that is only slightly smaller than our Sun, completing its orbit in a remarkably short period of just 4.9 days.

The unique characteristics of TOI-733b, particularly its size and the presence of oceans, make it an intriguing subject of study for scientists. Understanding the formation and composition of such exoplanets is crucial for expanding our knowledge of planetary systems beyond our solar system.

This discovery offers valuable insights into the diverse range of planets that exist in the universe and brings us one step closer to unraveling the mysteries of distant worlds.
