Ranveer Singh is set to step into the iconic shoes of Don in the upcoming installment of the popular franchise, succeeding Shah Rukh Khan. Director Farhan Akhtar recently revealed in an interview with Variety that this change in casting was the result of a mutual decision between him and SRK.
Akhtar clarified, “I’m not in the position of replacing anybody. These are things that we discussed over the years; I wanted to take a certain direction with the story, somehow we just couldn’t find common ground. We just parted mutually knowing that it’s probably for the best.”
Expressing his excitement about working with Ranveer Singh, Farhan said, “I’m really excited that Ranveer’s on board. He’s so charged and ready to go. It’s a big film, from an actor’s perspective, it’s a significant role, and we’re thrilled to have him. His energy is invigorating.”
In the teaser announcement, Ranveer makes a stylish entry as Don, donning a leather jacket, pants, boots, and sunglasses. The Don series, known for its captivating narratives and thrilling action, originally starred Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, and Boman Irani. The franchise’s first film was released in 2006, followed by a successful sequel in 2011.
