In an unfortunate incident in Rajasthan’s Dungarpur district, a collision between a truck and a multi-utility vehicle (MUV) claimed seven lives and left eight others injured. The mishap took place near the Ratanpur border on the bustling Delhi-Mumbai National Highway on Sunday, authorities confirmed.
According to the initial report by the police, the catastrophe ensued as the truck lost control due to brake failure and collided with a Force Trax Cruiser, causing the MUV to overturn. The collision resulted in a devastating scene, with bodies scattered across the road. While seven individuals tragically lost their lives on the spot, three critically injured victims were swiftly referred to Dungarpur for immediate medical attention.
Reports suggest that the ill-fated MUV was carrying a total of 21 passengers, with some even resorting to sitting on the vehicle’s roof. The driver of the MUV was among the casualties. The authorities disclosed the names of four of the deceased as Dhanpal (24), Hemant (21), Rakesh (25), and Mukesh (25), while the identities of a young girl approximately 14 years old and two other victims are yet to be established.
Promptly responding to the distressing situation, senior officials, including District Collector Laxmi Narayan Mantri and Superintendent of Police Kundan Kanwaria, rushed to the accident site to oversee the necessary proceedings.
