The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh has launched an intensive campaign centered around the popularity and accomplishments of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The party’s latest move includes the distribution of a letter penned by Modi to voters, along with a series of campaign vehicles emblazoned with the tagline ‘MP ke mann me Modi (Modi in the minds of MP)’.
Emphasizing Modi’s significant visits to the state as an achievement, the BJP highlighted the PM’s extensive involvement in the region compared to the previous Manmohan Singh-led UPA government. The campaign strategy seeks to amplify Modi’s influence, presenting him as a key factor in the state’s progress and development.
The campaign material underscores the absence of a specific chief ministerial face, spotlighting Modi as the focal point of the party’s electoral ambitions. Promotional videos and slogans circulating across the state emphasize the intertwined relationship between Modi and Madhya Pradesh, aiming to consolidate voter support in favor of the ‘Modi-BJP’ alliance.
According to the party’s data, the Modi government has allocated over Rs 1 lakh crore for various projects and initiatives in Madhya Pradesh, in contrast to the Rs 14,929 crore allocated during the tenure of the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government. BJP spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi cited Modi’s dedicated focus on the state’s development, underscoring the people’s trust in the PM’s leadership.
In response, Congress spokesperson K K Mishra criticized the BJP’s Modi-centric approach as a diversionary tactic to overshadow the performance of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s government. The Congress party aims to challenge the BJP on the state government’s track record while redirecting the focus to the Modi government during the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
The BJP’s vigorous reliance on Modi’s persona and accomplishments indicates a calculated strategy to secure voter confidence and consolidate its position in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh elections.
