Renowned actor Dhanush is all set to step into the shoes of the celebrated music maestro Ilaiyaraaja in an upcoming biographical film. Reports suggest that the much-anticipated project is slated to commence production in 2024, with a projected release date in 2025.
Ilaiyaraaja, fondly known as Isaignani, has garnered global acclaim for his exceptional musical contributions. The news of Dhanush’s role in the biopic was first unveiled by senior journalist Latha Srinivasan, who confirmed the actor’s involvement in the significant project, which is expected to be produced by Connekkt Media.
Dhanush’s enthusiasm for the role reflects his admiration for Ilaiyaraaja’s illustrious career, characterized by over 7000 compositions for 1000 feature films and an impressive repertoire of over 20,000 live performances spanning five decades. The revered composer has been honored with prestigious accolades, including the Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. His title as ‘Maestro,’ bestowed upon him by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London, attests to his unparalleled musical legacy.
While an official confirmation from the production team is yet to be released, the prospect of Dhanush taking on this iconic role has already garnered significant excitement and anticipation within the industry. The actor, recognized for his diverse performances, is expected to deliver a compelling portrayal that may well earn him accolades and recognition.
Aside from his involvement in the biopic, Dhanush has an array of projects in the pipeline, including the Tamil film “Captain Miller” directed by Arun Matheswaran, set to release on December 15, 2023. Additionally, the actor has been roped in for Sekhar Kammula’s upcoming film, tentatively titled “D51,” alongside co-star Rashmika Mandanna.
