'Salaar' Box Office Day 5: Prabhas' Film Sees Collection Dip, Earns Rs 23 Crore in India

Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s much-anticipated film, ‘Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire’, directed by Prashanth Neel, is continuing its strong theatrical performance. While the action drama has globally surpassed the Rs 400 crore mark, it witnessed a noticeable decline in collections on its fifth day in Indian cinemas, yet still managing to secure a substantial double-digit earning.

‘Salaar’ faced off against Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’ on the cinematic stage, releasing across five languages worldwide. The action-packed narrative debuted impressively with a staggering Rs 178 crore globally, marking it as the highest opener for any film in 2023. The Hindi rendition of ‘Salaar’ further added to its success, crossing the coveted Rs 100 crore milestone in this market segment. As per industry expert Ramesh Bala, the Hindi version accrued a net earning of Rs 9.50 crore on Tuesday, December 26.

However, as the week progressed, ‘Salaar’ observed a decline in its daily collections. On December 26, the film accumulated an estimated net of Rs 23.50 crore in India, a significant drop from the Rs 46 crore garnered on December 25. With this, the cumulative domestic box office collection for the film now reaches an impressive Rs 278.90 crore. The film maintained an average occupancy rate of 40.94% on December 26.

‘Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire’ is an ambitious project that brings together the talents of Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and director Prashanth Neel for the first time. The ensemble cast also includes renowned actors like Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Mime Gopi, and Sriya Reddy in pivotal roles. Produced under the banner of Hombale Films, ‘Salaar’ reportedly boasts a massive production budget of Rs 400 crore. As audiences await further updates on the sequel, ‘Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryanga Parvam’, the film’s success continues to make waves in the entertainment industry.
