Police Encounter in Tamil Nadu's Kanchipuram: Two Murder Suspects Fatally Shot

In a recent development in Tamil Nadu’s Kanchipuram district, two individuals, Raghuvaran and Karuppu Asain, accused in a murder case, were fatally shot by police during an encounter on Wednesday morning.

The incident unfolded when police officials, acting on leads, approached a dilapidated building near the new railway station bridge in search of the suspects. Raghuvaran and Asain, allegedly involved in the recent murder of a history-sheeter named Prabhakaran on Pudhupalayam street, resisted arrest fiercely. Sources indicate that the duo brandished a sickle and attempted to assault the police team.

In a bid to safeguard his team from the imminent threat, Sub-Inspector Sudhakar was compelled to resort to firing, resulting in the fatalities of both Raghuvaran and Asain. Following the encounter, the injured police officials, Special Sub-Inspector of Police Ramalingam and Constable Sasikumar, received immediate medical attention and were admitted to a nearby hospital.

Sources further reveal that both the deceased had a history of involvement in various criminal cases across different police jurisdictions, emphasizing the gravity of the situation and the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in maintaining public safety.
