In a recent review meeting, Tamil Nadu Tourism Minister K Ramachandran assessed the preparations for the upcoming 48th India Tourism and Industrial Trade Fair, scheduled to take place at Island Grounds in Chennai. Emphasizing the importance of completing construction works within the targeted timeline, the minister aims to position Tamil Nadu as the preferred destination for global tourists.
Instructing officials to maintain the state’s hotels and lodges in a hygienic manner, the minister highlighted the significance of creating a favorable environment for tourists. The event will feature a total of 51 stalls, showcasing achievements from state government departments, Union Government departments, and other entities from different states.
The Tourism and Industrial Trade Fair in Chennai has been a longstanding tradition since 1974, with last year’s edition running for 73 days from January 4 to March 23. The fair drew over 8.3 lakh visitors, including school and college students, providing direct or indirect job opportunities for approximately 10,000 individuals. While the fair’s dates are yet to be announced, the focus remains on ensuring a successful and engaging event.
