In a symbolic gesture on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, senior Congress leaders from Uttar Pradesh paid a visit to Ayodhya. The visit, planned before the consecration rituals of the Ayodhya temple, included AICC general secretary Avinash Pande, state president Ajay Rai, and others. Surprisingly, Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Hooda from Haryana also joined the delegation, seeking Lord Ram’s blessings for the start of a Congress campaign in Haryana.
The Congress leaders, adhering to their prior announcement, refrained from attending the consecration ceremony, terming it an “RSS-BJP event.” The visit was described as a traditional exercise to mark Makar Sankranti and was not to be linked with the party’s decision regarding the January 22 invite.
Despite the leadership’s absence from the consecration, the Congress delegation participated in prayers at the Hanuman Garhi temple and sought blessings from the existing Ram Lalla idol. The visit aimed to emphasize the party’s connection with faith and tradition.
