Alia Bhatt Shines in Anamika Khanna's Couture Corset Sari at 69th Filmfare Awards 2024

At the 69th Filmfare Awards 2024, Alia Bhatt not only clinched the Best Actress award but also stole the spotlight with her captivating ensemble. Designed by Anamika Khanna, the custom couture concept sari blurred the lines between couture and negligée, redefining the narrative of corsets in contemporary fashion.

Alia Bhatt’s red carpet appearance featured a corset-concept sari, showcasing the evolution of corsets beyond historical confines. Paired with a pre-draped skirt and incorporating a front slit, the ensemble drew inspiration from negligée-inspired styles. The corset displayed intricate embroidery, blending Chikankari and zardosi art, creating a fusion of tradition and modernity.

Part of Anamika Khanna’s Indian Couture Week ’23 Collection, the ensemble highlighted Kinkhab brocade, sheer fabrics, and satin in various shades of white. The incorporation of a long satin train added a dramatic touch, extending from the sari’s pallu and contributing to the overall elegance of the attire.

The popularity of pre-draped or concept saris signifies a cultural shift in the fashion landscape. Renowned Indian designers like Tarun Tahiliani and Rahul Mishra, along with brands like Ituvana and Bodice, have embraced this trend. Alia Bhatt’s choice aligns with this contemporary wave, showcasing the versatility and modern appeal of the concept sari.

Alia Bhatt complemented her whimsical ensemble with a minimalist approach to jewellery, featuring only a pair of diamond-encrusted chokers from Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas. Her makeup maintained a naturally bronzed and glowy look, with subtle metallic eyeshadow that harmonized with the outfit’s intricate embroidery.

Alia Bhatt’s appearance at the Filmfare Awards not only celebrated her talent but also served as a fashion statement, thanks to Anamika Khanna’s innovative couture. The corset concept sari reflects the dynamic evolution of fashion, breaking free from historical constraints and embracing contemporary trends.
