Renowned Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt took to social media on Tuesday to reveal her next venture in the world of cinema, titled “Jigra.” Directed by the accomplished Vasan Bala, known for “Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota,” the film is set to mark a significant collaboration. Notably, it will be co-produced by Alia herself and the accomplished filmmaker Karan Johar, who is venturing into the action genre for the first time under Dharma Movies.
The motion poster of “Jigra” paints an intriguing picture, featuring an animated Alia standing resolute in the midst of a rain-soaked road, her demeanor exuding a sense of contemplation and determination. In the backdrop, a poignant voiceover declares, “Dekh, dekh mujhe. Meri rakhi pehenta hai na tu, tu meri protection mein hai. Tujhe main kuch nahi hone dungi, kabhi bhi.” (Look at me, you are wearing my rakhi, you are in my protection. I will not let anything happen to you, ever).
Expressing her excitement and nervousness about donning the producer’s hat for the second time, Alia shared a heartfelt caption, unveiling the project. She wrote, “Presenting #Jigra, directed by the extremely talented @vasanbala and produced by @dharmamovies & @eternalsunshineproduction. From debuting in a Dharma production to now producing a film with them, in many ways, it feels like coming full circle from where I started. Every day is a different day… exciting, challenging (and a little scary)… not just as an actor but also as a producer as we bring this film to life, and I CANNOT wait to share more as we move forward. This marks a notable milestone for Alia, as it is her first lead role in an action-packed Bollywood feature. Her recent Hollywood debut in “Heart of Stone” showcased her versatility in portraying dynamic characters, notably as an antagonist alongside Gal Gadot.
