Celebrated composer A R Rahman responded to concertgoers’ grievances after his September 10 event faced criticism for alleged mismanagement. Rahman pledged to refund ticket prices for those who couldn’t attend due to unfortunate circumstances.
The concert, titled ‘Marakkuma Nenjam’ (Can the Heart Forget), took place at a private venue on East Coast Road (ECR). Tambaram City Police Commissioner A Amalraj reported an unexpected turnout of nearly 15,000 people.
Social media buzzed with complaints about severe traffic congestion, delaying attendees, even affecting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin’s convoy. Frustrated ticket holders were denied access, and children faced discomfort amidst the crowded conditions.
Rahman addressed the issue, urging affected ticket holders to email their ticket purchases and grievances to arr4chennai@btos.in, promising a swift response. ACTC Events, the event manager, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response but apologized for overcrowding and pledged accountability.
Disappointed attendees voiced their concerns, citing overcrowding and poor organization. Many felt it was a waste of money, and some complained of children being mishandled.
Rahman’s gesture aims to rectify the unfortunate experience, offering relief to disappointed fans.
