Bollywood's New Approach at Lakme Fashion Week

Lakme Fashion Week X FDCI witnessed a remarkable shift in runway traditions as Bollywood stars Karisma Kapoor, Saba Azad, and Kalki Koechlin graced the catwalk. Diverging from the typical “showstopper” concept, these actresses walked as “flowing” celebrities, ushering in a fresh perspective on fashion shows.

Designer Sanjay Garg’s “Children Of The Night” collection captivated the audience. Karisma Kapoor wowed in a gold and black gotta and silk pantsuit, exuding elegance with smoky eyes and minimal accessories. Saba Azad sparkled in an all-gold gotta and silk pantsuit, radiating glamour. Kalki Koechlin rocked a black saree with a silver one-shoulder blouse, effortlessly chic.

In a post-show press conference, Sanjay Garg conveyed his gratitude to the celebrities for supporting his innovative approach. He advocated for redefining the term “showstopper” and embracing the concept of a “celebrity flowing show,” where stars seamlessly merge with the fashion narrative.

Saba Azad highlighted the role of karigars from Benaras in crafting the collection, breathing life into their artistry.

With over 45 participants, Lakme Fashion Week promises an extravagant spectacle. The five-day fashion extravaganza in New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan includes a stockroom sale with 80 stalls on the final day, making it a fashion enthusiast’s haven.
