In a comprehensive 106-page manifesto released by the Congress in Madhya Pradesh, the party has laid out an ambitious vision, encompassing a range of promises and guarantees to various segments of the population. Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath unveiled the document, highlighting the party’s focus on critical areas such as women’s welfare, agricultural reforms, youth employment, and technological advancements.
Underpinning its manifesto are several key proposals, including the establishment of an exclusive IPL team for the state and the creation of an artificial intelligence center. These initiatives, as per party insiders, aim to project Madhya Pradesh as a progressive and modern state. Kamal Nath lamented the absence of a metro and an IPL team in the state, expressing his determination to rectify these shortcomings.
The Congress has pledged significant measures for women’s empowerment, including a monthly stipend of Rs 1,500, subsidized LPG gas cylinders priced at Rs 500, and various financial support schemes akin to those introduced by the current government. Additionally, the party has proposed numerous plans such as the “Meri Bitiya Rani Yojana,” providing financial assistance to girls from birth until marriage, along with free bus rides for women, financial aid for startups led by women, and plots for homeless women in rural areas.
Focusing on the agrarian sector, the Congress has promised substantial support, including loan waivers, free electricity for irrigation, and increased support prices for staple crops such as wheat and paddy. The party has also highlighted its commitment to environmental initiatives with the Nandani Gau Dhan Yojana, aiming to purchase cow dung at Rs 2 per kilogram.
In an effort to address unemployment concerns, Congress has proposed unemployment assistance, a significant push for government job creation, and the transformation of the state into an industrial hub. Furthermore, the party plans to introduce the Padho-Padhao Yojana, providing monthly stipends to schoolchildren and advocating for free education across the state.
The Congress has also emphasized its commitment to social inclusivity, vowing to conduct a caste census and implement the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) (PESA) Act in designated tribal regions. Additionally, the party has promised a 27% reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in government jobs and schemes. In line with its efforts to consolidate its position, Congress has proposed the establishment of the Sant Shiromani Ravidas Kaushal Unnayan University in the Sagar district, specifically targeting Scheduled Caste voters.
Nath underscored the party’s focus on cultural and spiritual aspects, outlining plans for the Narmada Parikrama Yatra and the Narmada Parikrama Parishad. The manifesto also includes provisions for comprehensive health insurance and accident coverage for families.
