Gautham Menon Addresses Possibility of "Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu 2" with Silambarasan

Renowned filmmaker Gautham Menon recently hinted at the uncertain fate of “Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu 2,” a potential sequel to the successful film starring Silambarasan. While the first installment received acclaim for its realistic portrayal of a village boy’s rise to the Mumbai underworld, Gautham Menon expressed doubts about the sequel’s realization.

When questioned about the sequel, Gautham Menon playfully referred to Ishari Ganesh, the producer, and said, “It has become a controversial question. VTK part 2 will happen when the producer and hero come together.” This statement implies that differences between Silambarasan and Ishari Ganesh might be hindering the progress of the sequel.

Silambarasan has been involved in disputes with producers in the past, notably with Michael Rayappan during the making of “AAA,” resulting in a fallout and a red card issued by the Tamil Film Producers Council. The current issues with Ishari Ganesh add to the actor’s troubled relationships with producers.

Ishari Ganesh filed a case against Silambarasan for allegedly breaching their contract for the film titled “Corona Kumar.” The producer claimed that Simbu received a Rs 4.5 crore advance but refused to proceed with the project. Simbu’s legal team argued that, per the contract, the film did not commence within one year, absolving the actor of the obligation to return the advance money. They also contested the advance amount, stating it was only Rs 1 crore.

As a result, the prospects of “Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu 2” appear uncertain due to the ongoing discord between Silambarasan and the producer Ishari Ganesh. Silambarasan is presently involved in an untitled project directed by Desingh Periyasamy and produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, led by Kamal Haasan.
