Government Reduces LPG Cylinder Price by Rs 200 as Raksha Bandhan Gift

In a gesture to mark the festive occasions of Raksha Bandhan and Onam, the Indian government has announced a significant reduction of ₹200 in the price of domestic LPG (liquified petroleum gas) cylinders. Anurag Thakur, the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, shared that this reduction is intended as a gift from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the women of the country.

The price reduction is applicable not only to regular consumers but also to beneficiaries covered by the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), a scheme aimed at providing LPG connections to women from economically weaker households.

Effective from Wednesday, the price of a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder will be reduced by Rs 200 across the country | PTI

Presently, a 14.2kg LPG cylinder costs ₹1,103 in the national capital. With the implementation of the price reduction, the cost will be lowered to ₹903, making cooking gas more affordable for households across the country. This move is expected to provide a welcome respite to families, especially during the festive season, while also aligning with the government’s efforts to promote cleaner and more accessible energy sources for Indian households.

Honestly, it’s a great gift I can practically hear the cries of appreciation right now.
