Naresh Goyal, the founder of the now-grounded airline Jet Airways, has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days by a special PMLA court. Following this decision, the 74-year-old was transferred to Arthur Road jail.
This development comes after his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on September 1 in connection with a case involving alleged fraud against Jet Airways, Goyal, and others, totaling 2538 crore related to Canara Bank.
Goyal was brought before the special PMLA court after the conclusion of his ED custody remand. The ED requested his judicial custody, which the special court granted. Following the court’s decision, Goyal filed several pleas, requesting that his family physician, regular medical consultant, and a specialist doctor be allowed to conduct his daily medical check-up.
This marks a significant legal development in the ongoing case against Naresh Goyal and Jet Airways, which has faced financial and legal challenges in recent years.
