In an upcoming episode of ‘Koffee With Karan’ Season 8, set to be released at midnight on November 23 on Disney+ Hotstar, Karan Johar dropped a surprising revelation about the casting of ‘Student Of The Year.’ The episode features actors Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan, who debuted in the 2012 film alongside Alia Bhatt.
During the conversation, Karan Johar disclosed that both Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan had initially expressed reservations about casting Alia Bhatt in their debut film. Johar shared, “I still remember with Alia, the first time that she walked in, how both of you actually sent me messages saying you can’t cast her. One of you said she is too young.”
Sidharth denied sending such a message, prompting Karan to respond, “You both did not want me to cast her. Stop pretending, you kept sending me images of other girls.”
Despite their initial reservations, Karan Johar highlighted how Alia Bhatt, being the “underdog within the underdogs,” eventually emerged and proved herself. Sidharth Malhotra praised Alia, acknowledging her journey from being an underdog to a standout performer.
