A tragic incident unfolded in Ernakulam, Kerala, as a 14-year-old girl succumbed to injuries inflicted by her father, who allegedly force-fed her herbicide. The local hospital authorities alerted the police about the brutal attack, leading to the subsequent arrest of the perpetrator.
The young girl, who had been admitted to a private hospital in Kochi’s ICU, fought for her life for over a week before tragically passing away on Tuesday. Reports suggest that her father, Abees Mohammad, expressed anger over her friendship with a boy from a different faith, repeatedly warning her to end the relationship.
Despite her father’s disapproval, the girl continued to communicate with the boy using a secondary phone after her father confiscated her primary device. This defiance led to an outburst of violence from her father, who allegedly beat her with an iron rod on her hands and legs, later force-feeding her the lethal herbicide.
The FIR filed against the father includes charges of attempted murder and causing harm with dangerous weapons under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). With the girl’s unfortunate demise, the police are preparing to add murder charges against the accused father, who has remained in judicial custody since the incident took place.
