Prada Joins Forces with NASA for Fashionable Moon Mission Spacesuits

Luxury fashion brand Prada is embarking on a unique journey into space, collaborating with NASA to craft spacesuits for the upcoming 2025 Moon mission. Prada’s design prowess will merge with the expertise of Axiom Space Systems engineers to fashion spacesuits that not only shield astronauts from the lunar environment but also augment their capabilities for space exploration.

Axiom Space, the commercial space enterprise overseeing this venture, envisions Prada’s design acumen—honed not just on fashion runways but also through endeavors like the America’s Cup sailing competition—as a valuable asset. While Prada’s involvement may evoke notions of chic spacesuits, experts emphasize the paramount importance of maintaining a thermally stable environment for astronauts amid the rigors of space.

The collaboration will give birth to the Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU) spacesuit, empowering astronauts to access, inhabit, and work on the Moon as part of NASA’s Artemis program. This partnership promises to integrate innovative technologies and designs, enabling more extensive lunar exploration. The Artemis 3 mission, scheduled for 2025, marks humanity’s return to the Moon, and it will include the historic landing of the first female astronaut on the lunar surface—Christina Koch.
