Randeep Hooda and Lin Laishram's Traditional Manipuri Wedding Attire Decode

In a heartwarming ceremony on November 28, actor Randeep Hooda and Lin Laishram tied the knot in an intimate Manipuri wedding, embracing Meitei traditions. The couple’s choice of traditional outfits added cultural richness to their special day.

Randeep Hooda opted for a classic white kurta paired with a distinctive yellow headgear known as “koyet.” This traditional ensemble reflected the essence of Meitei culture. On the other hand, Lin Laishram donned a regal Potloi, a cylindrical skirt made from robust fabric and bamboo. The skirt, adorned with intricate embellishments and ornate laces, is a customary outfit for Meitei brides.

Lin’s bridal look included a maroon Potloi paired with an elegantly embroidered black blouse, referred to as “resham furit.” The outfit was further complemented by a sheer ivory tulle drape and an opulent assortment of heavy necklaces. Lin adorned her hands with dazzling haath phools, completing her enchanting bridal ensemble.

Explaining the significance of embracing Manipuri traditions, Randeep Hooda expressed, “It feels very good. I felt that it’s only respectful to come and marry in the bride’s tradition. Though I have heard that in Meitei love marriages, the groom has to sit for a very long time. So, that’s something, but I am looking forward to the ceremony and traditions. I want to experience my life partner’s culture. That’s why I am here.”

The couple’s decision to incorporate traditional Meitei attire into their wedding celebration not only added cultural depth but also showcased their respect and enthusiasm for each other’s heritage
