In a disturbing incident in Bihar’s Rohtas district, a retired army man, Bijendra Singh (55), was shot dead by three armed assailants. However, the situation took a drastic turn when a furious mob chased down the attackers, leading to the lynching of two of them. The deceased assailants have been identified as Mithilesh Kumar (23) and Aditya Kumar (25), while the third, Ajeet Kumar, is currently hospitalized after a severe thrashing by the enraged crowd.
The incident unfolded near Kalyani village around 9:45 am on Wednesday when the armed assailants attempted to escape after allegedly gunning down Bijendra Singh, a former mukhiya contestant. Ankit Kumar, a villager, was shot and injured during the confrontation with the attackers. Upon receiving information, the police promptly arrived at the scene.
Vineet Kumar, the Superintendent of Police, provided details, stating, “The local residents chased the three assailants and assaulted them. A villager, Ankit Kumar, was shot at and injured by one of the assailants when they were caught by the villagers. Immediately after getting the information, police reached the spot.”
Tragically, Bijendra Singh succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The armed assailants were rushed to the nearest hospital, where Mithilesh Kumar and Aditya Kumar were pronounced dead by the doctors. Ajeet Kumar, the third assailant, is currently receiving medical treatment, and his condition is reported to be stable.
This shocking incident highlights the intensity of the situation, with a retired army man losing his life and the assailants facing the wrath of an angered community.
