Tragic Fire Roars in Tripura

Six people died and 15 others were injured in a tragic incident in Tripura’s Unakoti district. During the ‘Ulta Rath Yatra’ festival of Lord Jagannath, a Rath caught fire after making contact with a high-tension wire.

The mishap occurred around 4.30 pm in Kumarghat as thousands of devotees were pulling the iron-made Rath. Unfortunately, it came into contact with a 133 kv overhead cable, resulting in the devastating fire. The victims who lost their lives succumbed to the incident on the spot, while the injured were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Regrettably, their condition was reported as critical.

Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed his deep sorrow for the lives lost and extended condolences to the bereaved families. He assured support from the state government and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

This unfortunate event serves as a reminder of the need for stringent safety measures during festivals and public gatherings to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
