Vladimir Putin Accepts Invitation from Kim Jong-Un to go to North Korea

Russian President Vladimir Putin has accepted an invitation to visit North Korea, as reported by Pyongyang’s state-run KCNA news agency. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un extended the invitation during talks held at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.

According to KCNA, “Putin accepted the invitation with pleasure and reaffirmed his will to invariably carry forward the history and tradition of the Russia-DPRK friendship.”

This visit, when it occurs, will be significant as it could further strengthen the relationship between Russia and North Korea. It comes at a time when diplomatic efforts and negotiations regarding North Korea’s nuclear program are ongoing, with multiple countries, including Russia, playing various roles in the negotiations.

The details and timing of President Putin’s visit to North Korea will likely be worked out through diplomatic channels in the coming months.
